Our VFW Post as “adopted” the Illinois Veterans Home in Chicago which is only a few minutes away from our post. Many posts
“adopt” school, parks, or other institutions as a way of building a partnership with our community. A group of dedicated VFW Post members, alongside the invaluable assistance of the 3rd District Auxiliary, organized a special gathering at the Illinois Veterans Home to host the iconic Army-Navy game.

The VFW Post members recognized this and embarked on a mission to create an event that would not only entertain but also uplift the spirits of the veterans residing at the Illinois Veterans Home. The Illinois Veterans Home in Chicago is a haven for veterans who have dedicated their lives to serving their country. Hosting the Army-Navy game at this facility was a heartfelt gesture of appreciation and gratitude for their sacrifices. The VFW Post members’ initiative conveyed the message that their service is remembered and cherished by a grateful nation.

The collaboration between the VFW Post members and the 3rd District Auxiliary exemplified the strength that comes from working together for a common cause. The auxiliary’s involvement in serving during the game added an extra layer of care and consideration to the event. Their efforts showcased the unity that exists within the larger veterans’ community, transcending organizational boundaries to create a seamless experience for the residents of the veterans’ home.

We look forward to hosting more events at the Illinois Veterans Home in Chicago very soon!
